Making difficult choices

Making difficult choices.

There are times in our life when we are forced to make a difficult choice.

Difficult in meaning that this decision will have certain impacts on myself and others.

Are you at a crossroads?

Knowing that you are not happy, yet knowing the changes that are needed to make you happy are difficult and scary?

I was that person. Knowing I was in a toxic situation and the only way to improve it would be to make radical changes in my life.

As of this writing, I am now living a balanced life based on a difficult decision.

A few years ago I began to assess my current life.

I was gaining weight, sleeping poorly and irritable. I began reflecting on my stressors and worked at changing my lifestyle. My small changes of improved diet, seeking medical attention and improving my sleep offered some comfort but I continued to have difficulties.

More assessment of my life was needed.

I sought advice from those around me and reflected on my choices.

When I reflected on the main source of my stress, it became apparent that ten years of military service was taking a toil on my health.

You see, I joined the United States Air Force (USAF) at the age of 44; older than most when they retire from the USAF.

Over the course of the past several years as I have gained rank, I met some very amazing people.

Most working very hard at the expense of their health and their relationships.

When you are young, your health seems so ordinary…as you age you see it more as a luxury.

Relationships are something I cherish; genuine relationships with no prerequisite to exploit.

The last three years of my military service had been especially taxing as I found myself working within a toxic environment.

This toxicity was my catalyst for reflection.

After much thought, reflection and advisement I made the difficult decision to resign my commission from the United States Air Force.

Once the decision was made, I was able to project a clear path towards improving my own health and thus returning to a life in balance.

Are you in a place in your life where you are seeing the physical signs of stress, ill health and mental strain? I can help you return to a life worth living.

Through the flames of adversity, you will rise up and conquer!
